Chance: Far Side News

Hiya it’s me, Chance the most handsome blogging Border Collie in all of Nordern Minnesoda!  I have news….about Far Side. She has been having a lot of pain in her hand, arm, elbow and shoulder, night, day, brace, no brace, she was ready to let her carving buddies whack away at it…one is a retired Veterinarian and one a retired Anesthesiologist.

Uffda she did it.  She had surgery (with a real surgeon) on her hand yesterday for her carpal tunnel problem.

She mowed the lawn, she weeded the flower bed, she walked with me in the gardens, she did all the laundry and she even mostly cleaned off her desk in preparation before going under the knife.

She deserves to sleep on the couch and watch the weather channel for hours on end.

She says “the pain afterwards certainly cannot be worse than the before …can it?”

Rest assured she is in fine paws hands, Far Guy and I are taking good care of her…this time she wants Far Guy to read ALL the nurses instructions and not skip the last page…like last time…she got really pissed off, hollered and cried when the last page had a pain prescription to be filled that she read about TWO DAYS after her last surgery… a lot of big fat hairy help it did then.  I hope there is no crying this time. I hate the crying part and Far Guy wasn’t too thrilled with it either.  If I could read the instructions I would…but dogs cannot read….but I am special so I can blog.

Perhaps if and when Far Guy reads this he will leave a comment and update you all on the her condition.  Far Guy you got that??

I doubt that she will ever win the “patient of the year award.”

She might be back tomorrow, if not maybe I will show up again.

Chance I am glad that you know how to type so that you can keep us informed about things at your house. I hope that Far Side is able to keep the pain medicated better than that last time. Also hope that Far Guy maybe can keep us posted on how Far Side is doing.Take good care of yourself too, Chance.

Thanks for the update, Chance. Don't know what humans would do without you dogs.

Thanks for keeping us informed, Chance. Tell Far Side she's in my prayers.

Better read the last page! It could be a prescription or it could say "Recovery is more effective if the patient travels to Hawaii and sits on the beach while sipping beverages with paper umbrellas in them served by the person who previously skipped the last page of instructions." Best wishes as you recover.

Thanks for the update, Chance. I'm glad the surgery is behind her, and now she can recover and be back to her normal self, whatever that means. I'm also glad you are such a talented dog. Do you type with your nose? :-)

Oh, Chance...please give her a big hug for me and I wish I could be there and we could watch the Weather Channel together....one of the channels I really miss not having satellite. I hope her hand heals fast and there is NO pain and I know you are taking great care of her....not sure about Far Guy.....didn't read the last page with the pain prescription??? Really? I'd still be upset about that one! I do not like pain and I threaten my doctors that if I suffer so will they! I live far away from them so I can't just run to their office. Take good care of her! I hope she heals fast and is able to be pain free and utilizing her hand soon. Hugs ~ Sam

Good thing east side reads her blog everyday. The emails are short -- had a good nap dad made supper. The other said and woke up itchy and in pain but took meds to fix both ...will sleep soon. Thanks for all the kind words!

Our younger daughter had that surgery this summer and healed well - - - took up to two weeks of being very careful with it. She also had the cubital nerve (think funny bone) moved in the elbow on the same arm at the same time. That was inflamed due to a previous injury. Her husband took charge of the house and the two boys, ages 5 & 2, so tell FG he can survive and thrive the healing, too.
Amanda had read the last page of the instructions first and took her pain meds for a couple of days to get over the worst of it. One of her main problems was being sensitive to the tape over her incision. She was not allowed to touch it until returning to the doctor two weeks later.
Praying you have an uncomplicated and rapid recovery with great results! Remember the 3rd day after surgery can be the worst so be patient.

Ouch, hope she's feeling better soon. Thanks for keeping us up-to-date. Took my husband to an Urgent Care 2 weeks ago, let him go in on his own. He'd fallen and we thought he had a cracked rib. When he came out he couldn't tell me exactly what they'd said and when I read the notes it said they thought he had pneumonia.

She is sleeping very sound this morning. Not moaning so I think she is managing to sleep through her pain. Yes I did check to make sure she is breathing.

Glad to hear Far Side is on the other side of that "under the knife" episode! Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery--but no rush! Just feel better. The work can wait.

Thank you Chance! You are sweet to fill us in on Far Side! I'm sure you and Far Guy are taking good care of her. I'm so glad she did not have to wait any longer for the surgery and now has it done and behind her. I had carpal tunnel surgery many years ago - it really helps you to appreciate having both hands! It is not easy doing things with one hand! Tell her to take this opportunity to rest and let her arm and hand heal! Sending lots of healing thoughts and prayers!

Thank you Far Guy! (sure glad she is breathing too!)

One thing for sure Chance is that you will keep the mood of the room active. I assume Far Guy is your new sole taskmaster and you are sure that you are being taken care of well. I hope Far Side can get relief from all the pain.
