Date Night at the Fair

Last night we had a date.  That would mean our usual Pork Burger, Cheese Curds and French Fries at the Hubbard County Fair.  We have a standing date to eat, stroll down the Midway, and go through the 4-H exhibits every year.

Date Night at the fair

This ride would have made me puke.

Some ride that would make me puke

Something about being upside down and moving really fast…uffda that would do me in.

Winners at the fair

We really enjoy looking at all the exhibits.

New use for an old bike

Someone had a really good idea for a old bike…perhaps they should have had more time to execute their vision…but it is still a great idea.

We scored some free reusable insulated grocery bags from one of the Commercial Exhibits.  AND I won a handful of plastic key chains at the Nudgers ( Penny Falls) on the Midway!

What fun at the fair!

I love the county fair, too! I've been going since my kids exhibiting in 4-H and now with the grandsons. At their age it's the animals they love but I enjoy it all. Lots of sweet memories there . . . .

County fairs are fun if it's not too hot. We go to watch the grands show their hogs. I don't like rides so I stay away from them.

Love going to the county fair. We go early to avoid the big crowds. Don't do rides any more as most of them make me sick. Have a great weekend.

Fairs are always fun!

I love the exhibits. I participated in the fairs for years from garden vegetables to horses to grandson winning the talent show. Many memories in these places.

I wish I had a fair nearby right now. You made me want to go. Now that I think about it, there might be one if I just take a quick look in the papers. :-)

I love fairs! Yes, forget the rides and eat and wander through the exhibits. My son just went to their county fair up in Iowa. They have them here but I never know when. That is a great "standing date"! Keep it up!

We are looking forward to the fair here in August. We love the livestock barns, so I'll have to be sure to share photos of those. The exhibits are always fun to see who can grow the biggest and most beautiful produce. And the sewing exhibits are fabulous! Thanks for sharing your date.

Our county fair is coming up in a couple of weeks. They have escalated interest by having "professional" or better than local amateurs come in for a barbecue cook-off. Some of the sponsorship is from companies rather than just small local stuff. I remember going to the fair as a kid and wanted nothing to do with the exhibits - - just the rides. Now that has completely flip-flopped. So glad that life is closer to normal for both of you now!

With our balance, I think rides are a think of the past, but fairs are another think. You have your fun things that you do.

It's been a long time since I've been to the fair. I can close my eyes and smell of the bad for your food smells that I love so!!! I don't do rides either - sometimes just watching them go around makes me sick.
How are you two feeling?

The bike idea is good but it would require a lot of dusting. I don't dust much but that thing would be coated with dust in no time. We missed our local fair this year. I am yearning to go to the State Fair just to take photos. The food sounded good.

I was at a Farmers Market today that felt like a fiar. I had a corn dog and ice cream for lunch. Very much like a fair!
Your post has left me smiling.

Goodness! Cheese curds! Yummy greasy cheese curds! You forget about them when you haven't been to a fair for so long. I always loved the Pronto Pups at the MN State Fair, too, and the tiny donuts. Really fun if it's not too hot and sticky out. I always loved to look at the exhibits, too, and the animals barns. I'd pass on the rides, too. I never thought even the roller coaster was fun. I've been upside-down and speeding along on a few rides in my day and it's nothing I'd care to repeat--LOL! Sounds like a good date night. :)
