Blanket Flowers and A Goldfinch

The Gaillardia or Blanket Flowers are in bloom.

First Gaillardia blooms

Such a riot of color.  Don’t they make you smile?   I enjoy these flowers because no two are exactly alike.

We worked on Christmas Ornaments again…what a big project.  We have 51 all boxed up ready to go…another 19 left to do plus I think Far Guy cut out a few extra.  We might be done by August…well ahead of the Christmas rush.

It was another warm day yesterday but the humidity was lower.  We sat outside and worked on the ornaments.

Goldfinch

We watched the Goldfinches flit in and out of the trees.  Doesn’t take much to entertain us anymore.

I'm so curious about those ornaments! Must be messy as you seem to prefer to work outside....
I think the best entertainment around is the ever-changing display of birds and flowers in my backyard. I never get enough of them. If only I had a screened porch to outsmart the mosquitoes.

Thanks for the view of the goldfinch. Now that the feeders are down for the summer, they've pretty much disappeared into the woods.

THAT's what they are called! I have a ton of them. Thank you so much!!!!
Our birds are checking out the sunflower plants that grew from the scattered see.

I was wondering what those flowers were called. Love the Goldfinches. I had a lot of them this Spring. But now that the sparrows and wrens have returned they have all but disappered.

The blanket flowers are so cheerful. I love the goldfinch too. Glad the weather was nice enough to sit out and work on the ornaments. Hope you two have a good week.

I have tried to grow Gaillardia with no success. I love their colors, and yes, they make me smile. Aren't the Goldfinces wonderful? I love their bright color all wrapped up in such a tiny package!
I am impressed at your progress on ornaments. Wow! You guys are way ahead of the game. Christmas, for me, is some vague thing way over the horizon, over mountains and rivers - it is too far away for me to think about!

You and Far Guy are cruising right along on the ornaments! It must be relaxing to sit outside and carve.

Glad to see you both are feeling much better. The Bennie is much back to normal but takes long naps also.

I love Blanket Flower and just bought a few more packs to fill in here and there in front of the Wool House. They bloom like crazy all summer and might be one of my most favorite flowers now.

For some reason the middles of blanket flowers have always reminded me of strawberries. I think they're gorgeous.

I have some of those planted and I love them..so pretty and I love gold finches. I had them in Iowa but I haven't seen any down here but then I don't feed them either. I'm going to start. I know about the "it doesn't take much"...me either! LOL! I was all excited because I bought an air popper for popcorn today! I think I'm the last person on the planet.

You guys will be so happy to be done early for ornaments. Whoohoo! It's the little things like that and watching bright little birds that make life worthwhile. :)
